Regions to Explore

Ngorongoro Crater

The Ngorongoro Crater is a UNESCO World Heritage site sheltering an extraordinary concentration of wildlife within its ancient caldera walls. Descending onto the crater floor feels like entering a self-contained world – a veritable Garden of Eden – where lion, elephant, and black rhino share open grasslands and soda lakes. The scenery is as compelling as the wildlife — steep forested crater walls giving way to expansive plains. Often considered a must-do on any Tanzania safari, whether you start here or make it your final stop.

Tarangire

Tarangire National Park is defined by its sturdy towering baobabs and the life-giving Tarangire River, which draws wildlife during the dry season. Elephant herds – some of the largest in East Africa – gather along the banks, while predators stalk antelope and zebra across the plains. With volcanic mountains rising in the distance, the landscape has a powerful, primeval feel. Remote Maasai villages can be found on the fringes of the park, offering an authentic, off-the-beaten-path cultural opportunity. Fewer travel here than the more well-known Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti, but for those who do, Tarangire rewards with quiet sightings, pretty vistas full of wildlife, and opportunities for nature walks with skilled guides.

Serengeti

The Serengeti is an iconic symbol of Africa — vast, open, and seemingly endless. Its sweeping plains play host annually to the Great Migration, where millions of wildebeest and zebra move in search of fresh grass, pursued by predators. Yet even beyond the migration, the Serengeti offers exceptional year-round wildlife viewing and a profound sense of scale. Days here are marked by golden horizons, dramatic skies, and a remarkable sense of space.
